Jamiel Said’s dream of being a singer-songwriter was sparked in secondary school when a friend refused to share the chords to his original song, worried that Jamiel might steal it. Since that incident, Jamiel has embarked on a notable journey, weaving a colourful tapestry of inspirational adventures in music. He quotes Bon Jovi, Search, Wings as his early influences. But it was the ‘Indonesian wave’ with songs from Sheila On 7, Dewa and Padi, that inspired Jamiel to look into fresh creative directions in his song craftsmanship.
