Biography
While her past material is a schizophrenic potpourri of introspective acoustic tunes and chirpy electronic, Inch Chua, one of Singapore’s most prominent indie singer-songwriter, is returning to her roots as the boisterous rock singer she is best known for. Her latest musical direction harks to her love of classic rock like Queen, high-octane indie rock like Mute Math and even the queen of Japanese rock’n'roll, Shiina Ringo. Instead of her usual introspective lyrical slant, her new work will see her tackle social-political issues close to her heart. Inch Chua is an art school graduate and multi-instrumentalist. She is the first ever Singaporean artist to be invited to appear at SXSW (2010) in Austin, Texas where the industry buzz about her music initially began. Inch has appeared in FHM (#95 Most Sexiest Women in the World), Men’s Health, ELLE Magazine, Chic Magazine, on CNN, Yahoo (front page) and more. Her music can also be heard in television commercials for Digi Unlimited and Close Up. This past Spring 2011, Inch participated in a creative lab incubated by Ashton Kutcher and Intel - IdeaJam. In addition, her talents have been recognized where she has been invited to perform at the inaugural Youth Olympics Games (YOG) in August 2010. October 2010 has seen Inch open for highly popular indie rock act Vampire Weekend to great reception. She has been invited by the Singapore Tourism Board to be part of the music entourage for the closing ceremony for the Singapore Pavilion in the World Expo 2010 in Shanghai, China.
