Biography

After a year of playing together in a different bands, 6 musicians with great diversity decided to get together and play tunes that truly get their groove going. What started out as a rhythm trio having a jam quickly expanded into a 5-piece instrumental. A 9-piece band that plays some of the funkiest & grooviest music in Singapore. With a truly international line-up that includes musicians from the US, Europe, South America & South East Asia, the Munkees have performed over 60 shows across Singapore, as well as headlined music festival Penhstock in Phnom Penh, Cambodia in 2012. FungkiMunkees perform a mix of originals as well as classic covers from the likes of Earth Wind & Fire, Tower or Power and Kool & the Gang, all brought to life by their dedicated 5-piece horn section. Since launching their EP in 2013, the band has received rave & critical acclaim from audience & media alike. As a show band we like showing off, so you'll always be in for a surprise when you come to our shows, whether its a group of crazy dancers joining us on stage or just us trying something new to catch you with your groove down!
