Biography

During a gap year in 2010, Debra found herself waitressing. While she can’t remember exactly why, she still remembers the entire restaurant playlist. Broke and disillusioned, she found herself with nothing more to lose: she was free to chase her music dreams. Armed with a voice recorder and a notebook, she wrote her first song “Strangers” on bus rides from Labrador Park and debuted it at OOOM@SAM where she was a finalist. Subsequently, she began writing and singing at cafes and open mic sessions. She has since performed at Broun, Black Café, MAAD, Hood Bar, Tab, the Esplanade Library and the Esplanade Concourse.
